Mustangs Notables

• Midwestern State extended its current winning streak to eight games. The Mustangs have won 22 of their last 23 and are 27-2 since opening the season by going 3-2 at the NCAA II Classic in San Antonio.
• MSU is off to a program best start at 30-4. The Mustangs were 27-7 after 34 games in 2004 and 2006.
• Senior pitcher Katie Petersen has won her last 13 decisions after opening the season 1-2 at the NCAA II Class in San Antonio. Her last loss came in a 4-3 defeat at St. Mary's (Texas) on Feb. 7, 2010.
  With 39 strikeouts at the LSC Crossover, Petersen now has 759 career strikeouts and needs 95 more to eclipse the conference record which is currently held by Maria Gutierrez (853 at Texas A&M-Kingsville from 1999-02). Maria is the older sister of Katie's current teammate - Kristina Gutierrez.
• Junior pitcher Brittney Tanner was 2-0 with a 2.15 ERA at the LSC Crossover which included a relief victory over No. 2 Angelo State. She struck out 29 and walked six.
• Redshirt freshman Courtney Bingham connected for her 15th double of the season in Saturday's 5-2 win over Texas Woman's. The total leads the LSC and is two shy of matching the program's single season high water mark. Maranda Bishop hit 17 doubles in 2009.
