Lauren Bayer and
Miranda Byrd each delivered solid performance with seven kills each Saturday afternoon at The Box.
But it wasn't enough to overcome Stormi Lancaster's 14-kill performance to lift West Texas A&M to its 72nd consecutive Lone Star Conference win by scores of 26-24, 25-22, 25-22.
Midwestern limited the Lady Buffs to a .208 team hitting percentage while forcing them into at least six errors in each of the sets, but was unable to finish off WT late.
Damjanovic, a senior from Subotica, Croatia, made just one error in 23 total attacks for a .261 attack percentage, while Bayer, who finished with five total blocks, also committed just one miscue in 17 attacks for a .353 attack percentage.
Byrd committed just two errors on her way to a .312 kill rate to go along with five digs.
Junior outside hitter
Hillary White added five kills and led back row efforts with 11 digs.
Midwestern's 6-2 setter combo of
Taryn Westerman and
Kimberly Jeffrey tallied 15 and 12 assists, respectively.
The Mustangs fell to 10-8 overall and 4-2 in LSC play, while West Texas A&M improved to 13-7 and 6-0.
Midwestern returns to D.L. Ligon Coliseum for a pair of matches this week including Abilene Christian Thursday at 7 p.m. and Angelo State Saturday at 2.
