COMMERCE, Texas - Midwestern State plopped out its notebook from preseason meetings shortly after rolling to a 2-0 Lone Star Conference win over Texas A&M-Commerce in its regular season finale Sunday at the A&M-Commerce Soccer Field.
A quick review of the early season goals was in order for
Jeff Trimble's club.

"We are so excited about the opportunity to host, but we know we have some very tough games coming up," MSU coach
Jeff Trimble said. "We've set out some lofty goals but we're starting to accomplish them."
The Mustangs were definitely focused in their regular season finale and led by a solid back line effort from sophomores
Hanna Staley, Alyssa Dillman,
Megan Barnhart and freshman
Brianne Bates.
"Our starting backs just played tremendously," Trimble said. "They just kept playing in long balls on top of them and you can't say enough about how (sophomore goalkeeper) Mallory (Whitworth) held us down."
The Lions were limited to just nine shots with Whitworth coming up with seven saves to notch her seventh shutout of the season. The cohesive group of underclassmen has allowed just one goal in their last six matches and just one goal in the run of play of the last nine.
The Mustangs were able to push the ball forward for 23 shots putting 16 of those on frame and took the lead in the seventh minute when senior
Brandy O'Neal notched her fourth tally of the season off of a corner kick to the near post.
"The goal was remarkable," Trimble said. "The ball was almost out (on the touch line) and Brandy just flicked back. We have no clue how it went in."
Midwestern put away the game on a combination of passes from the right wing with
Kendra Clemons working through ball into
Kelsey Hill who sent a bounded ball into the box to Subia who volleyed it in from 12 yards out to push the advantage to 2-0 in the 66th minute.
The win clinched MSU's first women's soccer regular season title since Trimble's first season at the helm.
"Being a coach at Midwestern State is a great experience," Trimble said. "You always want to accomplish what the others (MSU coaches) have done. I couldn't be any more proud of the girls. They've done a wonderful job this season."
Midwestern State finishes the regular season at 15-2 overall and 10-1 in LSC play claiming the outright title over Abilene Christian (9-2) and Angelo State (9-2).
Texas A&M-Commerce slipped to 8-6-3 and 4-4-3.
