WICHITA FALLS, Texas - Joni Unruh poured in a game-high 21 points to lift No. 11 West Texas A&M to an 82-62 Lone Star Conference South Division win over Midwestern State Wednesday night at D.L. Ligon Coliseum.
The loss snapped a two-game homecourt winning streak for the Mustangs, who fell to 6-9 on the season and 0-2 in the LSC South.
Midwestern, which has lost 12-straight to the Lady Buffs and dropped its last 20 games against ranked opposition dating back to the 2004 season, faces Eastern New Mexico Saturday night in Portales. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m.
Unruh, who hit 7-of-14 shots from the field and was 7-for-10 from the free throw line, led a pack of three three Lady Buffs in double figures as Megan McClain had 17 points and five rebounds and Jamie Simmons scored 12 points and added six rebounds.
Sophomore forward
Cierra Thompson paced the Mustangs with 14 points and six rebounds, while
Savannah Carver added 13 points and five rebounds and
Aqueelah Watkins narrowly missed her fifth double-double of the season with 12 points and nine rebounds.
West Texas A&M improved to 18-2 on the season and 2-1 in the LSC South.
