WICHITA FALLS, Texas - Midwestern State turned up the pressure in a defensive struggle Saturday afternoon in the MSU Hampton Inn-vitational at D.L. Ligon Coliseum.
Kiara Jordan notched a career-high 27 digs to lead the Mustangs to their first victory of the season, taking a 25-21, 25-23, 25-22 win over Southwest Baptist.
The total was the most by an MSU player in a three-set match since Ashley Godwin had 28 at Wayland Baptist on Sep. 4, 2004. Godwin holds the three-set single match record with 31 against West Virginia State on Aug. 27, 2004.

Hillary White contributed 16 digs as the Mustangs limited the Bearcats (2-5) to a .111 attack percentage as junior middle blocker

Tiana Bond finished with five and four total blocks, respectively.
The Mustangs, who improved to 1-6, close the tournament play with a 4 o'clock showdown with Northwood (Mich.).
Freshman outside hitter
Shelbi Stewart paced the Mustangs' attack with eight kills and a .238 attack percentage, while
Miranda Byrd joined White and Bayer with six kills each.

Kimberly Jeffrey split setting chores to finish with 16 and 15 assists, respectively.
Alex Smith and Kelsey Stewart paced the Bearcats with 10 kills each, while Smith completed a double-double with 15 kills.
