KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Lauren Bayer and
Miranda Byrd led a Midwestern State block party as the Mustangs rolled to a 25-19, 25-16, 14-25, 25-20 win over Fort Hays State Saturday afternoon in the Rockhurst Classic at the Convocation Center.
Bayer and Byrd has six total blocks with one solo and five block assists each, while
Sesley Graves added four more block assists as part of a 12 total team block effort for Midwestern, who improved to 2-10 on the season.
The Mustangs forced and flustered the Tigers into 31 attack errors and a team attack percentage of .110.
MSU used a diverse attack to produce a team kill rate of .194 as four players finished with at least five kills.
Graves led the way with seven, while sophomore
Hillary White and freshman
Shelbi Stewart joined Bayer with five kills each.
Sophomore libero
Kiara Jordan led the back row effort with 10 digs, but had plenty of help as White had nine,
Miranda Byrd had eight and
Dimery Michaels had seven.
The Mustangs conclude tournament play with a 5 p.m. showdown against Rockhurst.
Fort Hays State fell to 3-8.
