KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Midwestern State played No. 6 Washburn to two close sets, but fell to the Lady Blues 3-0 in the opening match of the Rockhurst Classic Friday afternoon at Mason Halpin Fieldhouse.
Washburn (9-0) completed its ninth-straight sweep by scores of 25-21, 25-14, 25-22 as the Mustangs fell to 1-9.
Sophomore outside hitter
Hillary White was errorless in 17 attack attempts for a .412 attack percentage. The North Richland Hills product finished with seven kills and six digs.
Junior middle blocker
Lauren Bayer, the reigning LSC Defensive Player of the Week, produced seven kills in 14 attack attempts with two errors for a .357 kill rate, while sophomore outside hitter
Miranda Byrd also had seven kills.

Kimberly Jeffrey split setter duties with 14 assists each while leading the Mustangs to a .149 team attack percentage against a Washburn squad that had limited the opposition to a .066 rate.

Kiara Jordan led the back row efforts with 13 digs, while Byrd added eight of her own.
Washburn outside hitter Ashley Shepherd paced the Lady Blues with 13 kills, while senior setter Kate Hampson polished off a double-double with 35 assists and 10 digs.
The Mustangs continue tournament play this afternoon against Missouri Western. First serve is set for 3 p.m.
