JOPLIN, Mo. - The inside-outside tandem of Samantha Klump and Julie Meyer proved too much for Midwestern State in Saturday afternoon's finale of the Missouri Southern Invitational as the duo paced Missouri S&T to a 3-0 win at Young Gymnasium.
The 6-1 Klump battered the middle of the MSU defense converting 10 of her 11 attacks into kills for a near flawless .909 kill rate, while Meyer bombed from the outside with a match-high 21 kills.
The Miners used a .245 team attack percentage to roll to set wins of 25-23, 25-18, 25-20.
Midwestern State struggled with a team kill rate of .112 and was led by sophomore outside hitter
Miranda Byrd, who finished with eight kills and three errors for a .238 kill percentage.
Sesley Graves,
Lauren Bayer and
Hillary White added six kills each.
Sophomore
Kiara Jordan once again paced the Mustangs' back row with 13 digs.
The Mustangs host the MSU Hampton Inn-vitational next weekend at D.L. Ligon Coliseum. MSU faces Drury (Mo.) and Emporia State (Kan.) on Friday before playing Northwood (Mich.) and Southwest Baptist (Mo.) next Saturday.
