WICHITA FALLS, Texas - Daniel McMullan and
Chad Meeks battled for a pair of wins in singles' play Monday afternoon against No. 20 Abilene Christian at the MSU Tennis Courts.
But that's all No. 29-ranked Midwestern State could muster as the Wildcats rolled to a 7-2 Lone Star Conference win.
McMullan took Luke Hawk in straight sets 7-6, 7-0 at No. 3 while Meeks split the opening sets 6-3, 3-6 with Joey Farias at No. 6 before claiming the match in a super tiebreaker 10-8.
The Wildcats took control of the contest with three doubles wins as Bryan Joiner/Hawk edged
Octavian Dinuta 8-6 at No. 1, Ryan Hudson/Hutton Jones, Jr. nudged
Vjekoslav Stipanic/Meeks 8-6 at No. 2 and Eldad Campbell/Quenton Peterson-Paul rolled past
Tiago Vilarinho/
Carlos Bataller 8-2 at No. 3.
ACU clinched the match with a 4-2 singles' advantage with Hudson defeating Stipanic 6-4, 6-2 at No. 1, Campbell beating Dinuta 6-3, 6-3 at No. 2, Joiner doubling up Bataller 6-3, 6-3 at No. 4 and John Strahl eding Vilarinho 6-3, 6-4 at No. 5.
The Mustangs dropped to 4-4 on the season.
