DURANT, Okla. - No. 29 Midwestern State nosed out to a slim lead after doubles Tuesday afternoon at the SOSU Tennis Courts then held off Southeastern Oklahoma State 5-4.
Tiago Vilarinho and
Daniel McMullan defeated Edwin van Aerts and Kevin Longo 8-3 at No. 1 doubles while Carlos Battaller and
Chad Meeks survived Oriol Cortes and Jose Argumento 8-5 at No. 3 to put the Mustangs up 2-1 heading into singles' play.
Southeastern won the top two singles spots and claimed a decision at No. 5, but McMullan beat Longo 6-4, 6-1 at No. 3, Bataller edged Travis Tuax 7-6, 6-4 at No. 4 and
Chad Meeks split the first two sets 3-6, 6-4 with Cortes at No. 6 before taking the decisive third set 6-2.
Midwestern State snapped a two-match slide to improve to 5-4 on the season.
