DENTON, Texas - Midwestern State dropped its season opener 9-0 to North Texas here on Saturday afternoon.

The Mean Green, which improved to 3-4, rolled to three dominate doubles wins as No. 8 Madura Ranganathan and Irina Paraschiv defeated MSU's Alex Odell-Michels/Faye D'Hamecourt and claimed the Nos. 2 and 3 doubles position by 8-0 margins.

UNT's Paula Dinuta upended Odell-Michels 6-2, 6-1 at No. 1 singles, No. 14 Paraschiv beat Midwestern's Kaja Banas 6-0 at No. 2, No. 16 Ranganathan of North Texas defeated Tonya Blair 6-1, 6-4 at No. 3, UNT's Narine Kazarova claimed a 6-0, 6-0 decision over D'Hamecourt at No. 4, North Texas' Catalina Cruz beat MSU's Collean Kinser 6-4, 6-0 at No. 5 and Ashley Akin claimed a 6-1, 6-2 win over Midwestern's Mica Vinson at No. 6.

Midwestern State travels to Phoenix, Ariz. to compete in the Grand Canyon Invitiational beginning on Feb. 12.
