PHOENIX - No. 27 Brigham Young-Hawaii defeated No. 28 Midwestern State 8-1 Friday afternoon in the Grand Canyon President's Day Duels at Paseo Racquet Club.

The Seasiders (3-1) claimed 8-3 wins at Nos. 2 and 3 doubles with Manu Biajpai/Carlton Taylor defeating
Vjekoslav Stipanic/
Chad Meeks at No. 2 and Romeo Juhasz and Joseph Beck beating
Octavian Dinuta and
Chip Threadgill at No. 3.
Midwestern State claimed in lone match at No. 6 singles where Meeks rolled up a 6-4, 6-1 victory over Beck,
Carlos Bataller challenged Bajpai at No. 3 before falling 11-9 in the super tiebreaker. Bataller rallied back for a 6-4 win in the second set after losing the opener 6-4.
The Seasiders claimed straight-set wins in the other singles matches as Ma cruised to a 6-3, 6-1 win over Stipanic at No. 1, Peter trounced Vilarinho 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2, Taylor dusted McMullan 6-2, 6-2 at No. 4 and Juhasz upended Dinuta 6-1, 6-4 at No. 5.
The Mustangs fell to 3-2.
