PHOENIX - No. 29 Hawaii-Hilo swept No. 28 Midwestern State 9-0 Thursday night in the Grand Canyon President's Day Duels at the Paseo Racquet Club.

The Vulcans (2-0) rolled to take three decisions in doubles as UHH's Laurent Colombo/Kevin Tamura defeated MSU's Vjekoslav Stipanic/Daniel McMullan 8-4 at No. 1, Hilo's Luis Gonzaga, Jr./Stephen Royalty beat MSU's Dinuta/Chad Meeks 8-3 at No. 2 and UHH's Aaron Tada/Justin Dugan claimed an 8-4 victory over MSU's Carlos Bataller/Tiago Vilarinho at No. 3.

The Vulcans also rolled to straight-set wins each of the six singles positions.

Colombo defeated Stipanic 7-6 (10-8), 6-2 at No. 1, Gonzaga beat Dinuta 6-0, 6-3 at No. 2, Tamura edged Bataller 7-5, 6-4 at No. 3, Royalty upended McMullan 6-4, 6-2 at No. 4, Dugan survived Meeks 6-4, 7-5 at No. 5 and Matthew Tavares beat Chip Threadgill 6-3, 7-5 at No. 6.

Midwestern State slipped to 1-1 on the season.
