WICHITA FALLS, Texas - Elissa Loynes pounded out 18 kills and Jordan Goings narrowly missed a triple-double as red-hot Lubbock Christian rolled to a 25-11, 20-25, 25-18, 25-14 win over Midwestern State Tuesday night at D.L. Ligon Coliseum.
The NAIA 18th-ranked Chaps improved to 15-3 by extended their current winning streak to six matches and have now won 12 of their last 13, while the Mustangs dropped to 7-16 on the season.
Goings, a sophomore setter from Aledo, finished with 51 assists, 11 digs and deposited eight dumps for kills as LCU logged a team hitting percentage of .231.
Midwestern did snap the Chaps' 16-set win streak in the second set, but struggled to a .000 team hitting percentage in the first and third sets allowing Lubbock Christian to take control.
Sophomore outside hitter
Hillary White led MSU and posted her fourth double-double of the season with a team-high 11 kills to go along with 11 digs, but she was the lone Mustang to finish with double-digit kills.
Freshman
Mallory Goon, who was filling in for
Kiara Jordan at libero, and sophomore
Miranda Byrd logged career-best matches with 19 digs, while
Lauren Bayer and
Sesley Graves had four blocks each.
Jordan, who leads MSU with 4.72 digs per set, missed her fourth-straight match due to illness.
The Mustangs return to Lone Star Conference play Thursday night at Tarleton State before taking on Texas A&M-Kingsville Saturday in Kingsville.
