Kari Bristow in the 63rd minutes to lift the Mustangs to a 1-0 win over Texas Woman's University in their Lone Star Conference opener Friday night at the MSU Soccer Field.
MSU, which extended its regular season unbeaten string to 16 matches, improved to 7-0-2 on the season and 1-0 in league play, while the Pioneers dropped to 2-7 and 0-2.
The Mustangs play host to Texas A&M-Commerce in a pivotal LSC contest Sunday afternoon at the MSU Soccer Field. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m.
Midwestern State has now won 10-straight home matches dating back to a 1-0 loss to Incarnate Word early in the 2008 campaign.

Mallory Whitworth combined to make two saves for the Mustangs' seventh shutout of the season.
The Mustangs have not allowed a goal in the last 557:49 of clock time and notched a program record with their fifth-straight shutout.
