SAN ANTONIO, Texas - Sesley Graves and
Miranda Byrd combined for 16 kills, but it was enough to pull Midwestern State past Incarnate Word Friday night at McDermott Center.
The Cardinals battled for wins of 25-21, 25-19, 26-24 to improve to 15-5 on the season, while MSU dropped to 5-15.
The Mustangs face Texas A&M International Saturday morning at 11 a.m. at Bill Greehey Arena on the campus of St. Mary's University.
Graves, a senior middle blocker from Wichita Falls, had eight kills and committed only two errors in 18 attempts for a a .333 attack percentage, while Byrd, a sophomore outside hitter from Atlanta, Texas also had eight kills with a .222 hitting percentage.
The duo joined sophomore
Hillary White and junior Kari Damjanovic with three total blocks as the Mustangs finished with seven total team blocks.
White paced MSU's back row efforts with 14 digs, while sophomore
Mallory Goon added nine.
Anna Herr and and Emily Kopecki had nine kills each to lead the Cardinals.
