KINGSVILLE, Texas - Adina Gray and Kristin Chancellor combined for 31 kills to lead Texas A&M-Kingsville to a 23-25, 25-20, 25-20, 25-22 win over Midwestern State Saturday afternoon at Hampton Inn Court.
The loss sent Midwestern to 8-17 on the season and was its first loss in Lone Star Conference play as it fell to 4-1, while the Javelinas improved to 12-9 and 2-4.
Gray, a 5-8 senior outside hitter, had a match-high 18 kills and committed just three errors for a .417 hitting percentage, while Chancellor, a 5-10 junior right-side hitter, added 13 kills and was errorless in 22 attacks for a .591 attack percentage.
The Mustangs, who held leads in three of the four sets, enjoyed double-double performances from three difference players as
Miranda Byrd finished with 17 kills and 15 digs,
Hillary White had 10 kills and 17 digs and
Kimberly Jeffrey added 13 digs to go along with 24 set assists.
Sophomore libero
Kiara Jordan led back row efforts with 20 digs, but MSU was unable to slow a Kingsville attack which finished with a .249 kill rate.

Tiana Bond finished with a team-high four total blocks each while Byrd contributed three others.
Midwestern State plays host to Eastern New Mexico Thursday night at 7 p.m. in D.L. Ligon Coliseum before taking on LSC-leading West Texas A&M Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m.
