Mustangs take 10th straight at Ligon, club Abilene Christian 84-73

WICHITA FALLS, Texas - Craig Green blistered the nets for 24 points and keyed a big second half surge as Midwestern State claimed its 10th-straight win at D.L. Ligon Coliseum Saturday night, taking an 84-73 decision over Abilene Christian.

The Mustangs improved to 15-5 on the season, but more imporantly moved into a three-way tie atop the Lone Star Conference's South Division with Texas A&M-Kingsville and Angelo State at 4-1.

Green ignited a 13-0 MSU run midway through the second half with a trey from the corner before Michael Godwin hammered a fast break dunk off of a nice release assist by Anthony Moore.

Green followed a Nolan Richardson floater in the lane with another 3-ball before Richardson hit another jumper in transition to give the Mustangs a commanding 72-56 lead with 7:20 to go.

Abilene Christian chipped away, but could get no closer than seven points the rest of the way.

Richardson overcame a sluggish start and a 5-of-15 shooting night by connecting on eight of his 10 charity tosses to close with 20 points.

Senior point guard Earl Rabb turned in another solid all-around effort with 11 points, six assists and four steals in 35 minutes, while Trajinski Grigsby paced Midwestern's effort off of bench with nine points and six rebounds.

Dante Adams led a quartet of Wildcats in double figures with 22 points, while Dejan Sencanski had 17, Cameron Holson added 15 and Milos Klimovic chipped in 14.

Abilene Christian dropped to 8-11 on the season and 2-4 in the LSC South.

The Mustangs play host to Tarleton State Wednesday night at D.L. Ligon Coliseum. Tipoff is set for 8 p.m. or 25 minutes after the conclusion of the women's game wich begins at 6.
