WICHITA FALLS, Texas - The one-two combination of
Nolan Richardson and
Craig Green combined for 38 to lead Midwestern State to an 81-63 win over Tarleton State Wednesday night at D.L. Ligon Coliseum.
The win was the 11th-straight at home for the Mustangs, who improved to 16-5 on the season and sit atop the Lone Star Conference South Division with a 5-1 mark.
MSU, which has won 12 of its last 13 games, travel to Stephenville to finish off its Rivalry Week home-and-home series with the Texans Saturday night at Wisdom Gym. Tipoff is set for 8 p.m.
Richardson topped the 20-point barrier for the ninth time this season as he hit three treys on his way to a 20-point performance.
Green failed to score 20 point for the first time in three games, but still hit four 3-pointers and capped a solid, all-around effort with 18 points, seven rebounds, four assists and four steals.
Senior forward
Trajinski Grigsby went 5-for-6 from the field and connected on each of his 3-point efforts to finish with 13 points off of the bench.
The Mustangs, who led by as many as nine points in the first half, took a 38-31 lead into intermission before
Earl Rabb keyed a 12-0 run midway through the second half by assisting on four-straight buckets. MSU would lead 64-46 wheh
Chris Williams hit a fall away jumper on the baseline with 6:57 to go.
Rabb finished with just five points, but dished out a career-best 12 assists as the Mustangs shot over 50 percent from the field for the third-straight contest.
Monqual Pegues led the Texans with 16 points and seven boards, while Eric Williams and Cortney Hill added 14 each.
Tarleton State slipped to 13-8 on the season and 1-5 in Lone Star Conference South Division play.
