WICHITA FALLS, Texas - Midwestern State scored the first 12 points of the second half and ran away with a 74-48 win over Southeastern Oklahoma State Saturday night at D.L. Ligon Coliseum.
The Mustangs, who extended its win skein to five game and improve to 8-4, play host to East Central (Okla.) Monday night at Ligon Coliseum. Tipoff is set for 8 p.m. or 25 minutes after the conclusion of the women's game which begins at 6.
Craig Green kickstarted the Mustangs by canning 3-pointer from the left corner 16 seconds into the second half after the Savage Storm had played MSU to within 30-27 at halftime.
Michael Godwin would convert a pair of charity tosses before
Charlie Logan tipped in an errant jumper by Green and then hammered in an alley-oop from
Nolan Richardson to extend the Mustangs lead to 39-27 3:11 into the second half.
Richardson would then bury a 3-pointer from the top of the key to culminate the run a minute later.
Southeastern's LaDarren Williams stopped the bleeding momentarily with a pair of free throws, but the Mustangs kept their foot on the gas and used a subsequent 7-2 run to construct a 51-32 bulge at the 11:18 mark.
The lead grew to 56-35 when Logan threw down his second dunk of the night after
Anthony Moore picked Darrien Williams' pocket and threw a lead pass to Logan in the open floor with 8:27 to play.
The Mustangs would lead by as many as 28 points.
Richardson once again paced Midwestern, finishing with 18 points, nine rebounds and six assists, but had plenty of help.
Logan logged the first double-double of his career with 12 points and 12 rebounds to go along with four blocked shots, while Godwin also added 12.
Junior post
Chris Williams added 10 more on 5-of-6 shooting off of the bench.
Southeasten was paced by junior forward William Slones, who finished with 18 points and 12 rebounds.
The Savage Storm dropped to 3-10 on the season.
