No. 3 Mustangs blow past Regis (Colo.), 4-2

DENVER – No. 3 Midwestern State got a pair of second –half goals from Kyle Kmiec as the Mustangs came away with a 4-2 result over Regis (Colo.) Friday afternoon at the Regis Match Pitch.

"Our forwards and midfield was able to open up pretty well and cause some problems," MSU coach Doug Elder said.

The Mustangs jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first half as Nick Auditore converted a serve from Rob Humphrey in the early going before Ahmad Ihmeidan netted his third goal of the season off of an assist from Jake Landon to give MSU a two-goal advantage at intermission.

The Rangers (1-5-1) countered with a goal on a defensive misclear three minutes into the second half to pull within 2-1 before Kmiec notched his second and third goals of the season.

Regis added the last goal of the match when Midwestern keeper William Freeman cleared a ball off of a Rangers' back side that rolled into the net.

The Mustangs battle No. 16 Metro State (Colo.), an 8-0 winner over Colorado Christian Friday afternoon, Sunday afternoon at Auraria Field in Denver. Kickoff is set for noon.
