LSC Postseason Scenarios

LSC North

  • Southeastern Oklahoma State clinched playoff berth. The Savage Storm needs two wins to clinch No. 1 seed and an outright division title.
  • Central Oklahoma clinched playoff berth. The Bronchos need a sweep of SOSU to clinch No. 1 seed and the outright division title. The Bronchos can gain a split of the division title and the No. 1 seed by taking three of four games from the Savage Storm this week. If UCO doesn't win at least three games, it will be the No. 2 seed.
  • Midwestern State clinched playoff berth. The Mustangs will be the No. 3 seed if ECU wins at least two games this week against Cameron. If Cameron wins at least three games, MSU will be the No. 4 seed.
  • Cameron clinches postseason berth with two wins or one win and one NSU loss to Southwestern Oklahoma State. The Aggies can earn No. 3 seed with three wins over ECU. IF Cameron clinches a postseason berth with less than three wins, it will be the No. 4 seed.
  • Northeastern State can clinch a playoff berth with sweep of Southwestern Oklahoma State and an East Central sweep of Cameron. The RiverHawks would advance over ECU by virtue of a 1-3 mark against UCO where ECU was 0-4 against the Bronchos. The teams split series and own one win each over SOSU.
  • East Central needs a sweep of Cameron and one loss by Northeastern State to Southwestern Oklahoma State to advance to the postseason.
  • Southwestern Oklahoma is eliminated from postseason consideration.

LSC South

  • Angelo State clinched a playoff berth as the No. 1 seed. The Rambelles can clinch the outright LSC South title if Tarleton State loses once to Texas A&M-Kingsville.
  • Tarleton State clinched playoff berth. The TexAnns can clinch the No. 2 seed with one win against Texas A&M-Kingsville. Tarleton clinches a share of the LSC South title with a sweep of Texas A&M-Kingsville.
  • Abilene Christian clinched playoff berth. The Wildcats can clinch a No. 2 seed with a sweep of West Texas A&M and a Texas A&M-Kingsville sweep of Tarleton State. If not, ACU is the No. 3 seed.
  • Texas A&M-Kingsville clinches the No. 4 seed with one win over Tarleton State or one West Texas A&M loss to Abilene Christian.
  • West Texas A&M clinches the No. 4 seed with a sweep Abilene Christian and a Tarleton State sweep of Texas A&M-Kingsville.
  • Eastern New Mexico is eliminated from postseason consideration.
  • Texas Woman's is eliminated from postseason consideration.

Tidbits

  • Midwestern State clinched its fifth-straight berth in the Lone Star Conference postseason tournament with Saturday's 12-3 win over Northeastern State in Game 2 Saturday at Mustangs Park.
  • The Mustangs have advanced to the LSC postseason in each of its now five years of existence. MSU is the lone member of the LSC North Division to qualify for the tournament in each of the last five years. Angelo State is the lone team from the LSC South to keep its annual reservations to compete for the conference title.
  • MSU third baseman Kristen Stonecipher connected on her fourth-career grand slam and second of the 2008 season and now needs seven RBI to move past former Abilene Christian standout Katie Bryan to set the Lone Star Conference record for career runs driven in. Bryan had 171 RBI from 2002-05.
  • Stonecipher is also two homers behind former teammate Racheal Jackson for the program lead. She now has 26 for her career.
  • MSU coach Brady Tigert is two wins away from 300 career coaching wins. Tigert is 298-145 (.673) in his eighth collegiate season which includes three seasons at Texas A&M-Kingsville (110-54, .671) and five at MSU (188-91, .674).
