WICHITA FALLS, Texas – Central Oklahoma claimed a pair of three-set singles wins to overtake No. 32 Midwestern State 5-4 Saturday afternoon at the MSU Tennis Courts.
The Mustangs, who had their five-match winning streak halted, came out of doubles with a 2-1 edge after
Ann Sophie Indeherberge and Melissa dos Silva claimed a win at No. 2 and
Collean Kinser and
Desre Tarr combined for a win at No.3.
But the Bronchos (4-2) clawed for four singles wins after the Mustangs came within a victory of securing the match when
Cristina Oliveira beat Julie Vo 6-4, 6-4 at No. 2 singles and Kinser rolled to a 7-5, 6-2 win over Dominika Kovacikova at No. 5.
Central Oklahoma claimed decisions at No. 1 and No. 3 before No. 4 Amy Cabato and No. 6 Lacy Caldwell claimed convincing 6-0 and 6-1 third-set wins over dos Silva and Tarr, respectively.
The Mustangs will try to bounce back against No. 21 East Central Wednesday afternoon in Ada. First serve is scheduled for 3 p.m.
