WICHITA FALLS, Texas – No. 32 Midwestern State rolled to a 8-1 win over Southeastern Oklahoma State Thursday afternoon at the MSU Tennis Courts.
The Mustangs, who snapped a three-match skid to improve to 8-4 on the season, took control of the match by sweeping doubles play.
Faye D'Hamecourt and Melissa Dos Silva took care of SOSU's Jenny Paine and Ashley Grayson 8-1 at No. 1, while No. 2
Cristina Oliveira and Ann Sophie Indherberge and No. 3
Collean Kinser and
Ashley Huse each claimed 8-5 decisions.
The Mustangs then won the first five singles matches to come off the court in straight sets as Oliveira defeated Amber Thompson 6-2, 6-0 at No. 1, Indeherberge beat Paine 6-0, 6-2 at No. 3, D'Hamecourt mastered Grayson 6-2, 6-0 at No. 4, Kinser topped Jenna Newton 6-3, 6-1 at No. 5 and
Desre Tarr outwitted Sara Schmidt 6-4, 6-1 at No. 6.
Southeastern Oklahoma's Deana Brooks claimed the lone victory for the Savage Storm, claiming a 6-4, 6-3 decision over Dos Silva at No. 2.
Midwestern State travels to Stephenville to take on Tarleton State next Tuesday.
