WEATHERFORD, Okla. – Midwestern State squandered a pair of bases loaded opportunities with one out, stranded 10 runners and allowed four unearned as the Mustangs dropped Game 2 to Southwestern Oklahoma State 4-1 Saturday afternoon at SWOSU Park.
The Mustangs fell to 10-9 on the season and evened their LSC North Division mark at 1-1, while SWOSU improved to 6-6 and 1-1.
Midwestern State faces Abilene Christian in its home opener Sunday afternoon at Mustangs Park. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.
The Mustangs took advantage of a pair of Bulldog errors in the fourth and fifth innings, but grounded into a fielder's choice in each inning to leave the bases loaded.

Maranda Bishop gave the Mustangs a 1-0 lead on her fourth triple of the season to drive in
Kellie Sledge, who had reached on a third-strike wild pitch.
But the Bulldogs took advantage of an MSU error to plate four runs on a pair of two-run doubles by Lacie Keplinger and Stacy Creger.
MSU freshman Brittany Tanner took the loss to fall to 2-5 after she relieved starter
Ashley Kuchenski to start the fifth.
Kuchenski pitched four scoreless innings while allowing four hits and a walk. The senior from Magnolia struck out three.
Stoncipher paced a seven-hit attack by going 2-for-4, while senior catcher
Lindsey Voigt went 0-for-3 to end a team-high nine-game hitting streak.
Voigt went 16-of-29 (.552) during the streak with five doubles and two homers while driving in eight runs and scoring 10 more.
