ADA, Okla. – East Central used a strong defensive effort to shock No. 21 Midwestern State 26-24, 22-25, 25-23, 25-17 in Lone Star Conference action Thursday night at Kerr Center.
The Mustangs fell to 19-4 and 3-1 in the LSC, while East Central improved to 7-14 and 2-3.
East Central kept the ball in play with 70 team digs and frustrated Midwestern in to 23 attack errors as the Tigers had four players put up double-digit digs.
Megan Kimak led the way with 21 while Katy Fields added 15, Jacqueline Sparks had 11 and Holly Hicks had 10.
East Central erased set-point in the opening stanza to score the final three points for a 26-24 win, then overcame a four-point deficit at 21-17 in the third set to reclaim a 2-1 advantage after the Mustangs took the second set 25-22.
The scrappy Tigers never trailed in the fourth and deciding set as Kimak spurred a 6-0 to turn a 16-15 lead to take control 22-15.

Hillary White paced MSU with 12 kills, while
Sesley Graves,
Whitney Maxwell and
Miranda Byrd added 10 apiece.
Senior setter
Allison Schreiber notched a double-double with 36 assists and 16 digs, while senior libero
Shay Velasquez led the Mustangs with 19 digs.
Midwestern State continues conference play Saturday afternoon at Southeastern Oklahoma State. First serve is set for 2 p.m.
