AUSTIN, Texas – Midwestern State's
Robert Swann knocked in a bounding ball in the box to lift the No. 1-ranked Mustangs to a 2-1 win over No. 14 St. Edward's Friday night at the SEU Soccer Field.

The Mustangs endured six yellow cards and had a goal waved off when the Hilltopper defender Dustin Chrerry received St. Edward's lone booking in the 25th minute.
The Mustangs took the lead 11 minutes later after senior midfielder
Ahmad Ihmeidan converted a penalty kick after
Craig Sutherland was taken down from behind in the box.
But the Hilltoppers clawed back for the equalizer in the 40th minute. Jorge Vega tapped in his sixth goal of the season after Cherry redirected a cross from Kevin Klaus to knot the match at 1-1 going into intermission.

Kyle Kmiec was sent off after accumulating his second yellow card of the match forcing the Mustangs to go a man down for the 29:03 of regulation.
"Some of the calls went against us and the guys just stuck with it," Elder said. "We picked it up and just played hard defensively."
For the match, St. Edward's managed just a 14-13 advantage in shots. The Mustangs placed seven shots on goal while the Hilltoppers managed just four.
Midwestern State claimed its 11th-straight win to improve to 13-1 as it won for the first time in three tries after making the jump to a top national ranking.
MSU plays host to St. Mary's (Texas) Wednesday night as part of a doubleheader at the MSU Soccer Field.
The women's soccer team battles Central Oklahoma 5 p.m before the men kickoff at 7 p.m.
