CANYON, Texas - West Texas A&M got a big match from Laura Prinsen and used a big attack to subdue Midwestern State 25-20, 25-17, 25-22 Thursday night at The Box.
Prinsen finished the night with a match-high 15 kills and hit .414 to lead a strong attack for No. 3-ranked Buffaloes, who improved to 23-4 on the season and 7-0 in the Lone Star Conference.
The Mustangs, who fell to 21-6 and 5-3, were led by junior middle blocker
Sesley Graves, who had 10 kills while committing just a single error to hit .429.
MSU threatened in the first set as the Mustangs used kills by Graves and two more from senior outside hitter
Jessica Ransom to knot the set at 20-20.
But the Lady Buffs closed the set with five-straight points to take the set 25-20.
Midwestern State stayed close in the early stages of the second and third sets, but were unable to solve West Texas A&M attack which finished with a .277 kill rate.
The Mustangs hit a strong .394 in the third set after notching 16 kills with just three errors, but finished the match with a team hitting percentage of .213 after hitting .175 and .086 in the first two sets.

Allison Schreiber finished the match with 31 assists, while senior libero
Shay Velasquez had 13 digs to lead the back-row effort.
Ransom finished a solid all-around night with nine kills and 11 digs, while junior middle blocker
Alysha Pritt had eight kills and six digs.
The Mustangs face Eastern New Mexico Saturday morning in Portales. First serve is set for 10 a.m.
