DALLAS – Midwestern State suffered its fourth-straight setback Monday night at Burg Center as Dallas Baptist claimed a 25-21, 25-20, 14-25, 25-20 decision.
The Mustangs, which fell to 19-6 on the season, have now lost six of their last seven since starting the season with a school-record 18-straight wins, while Dallas Baptist improved to 12-9.
Midwestern twice defeated Dallas Baptist 3-1 first on Sep. 6 at the Missouri Southern Invitational and again on Sep. 9 at D.L. Ligon Coliseum.
MSU turned in a great defensive match as the Mustangs had 76 digs led by senior libero
Shay Velasquez's 23 digs and 11 total team blocks as
Allison Schreiber and
Miranda Byrd each had five.
But the Mustangs struggled on the attack with a .152 team attack percentage while committing 22 errors.
Schreiber had 40 assists and added 13 digs four her sixth double-double of the season.
Byrd paced the MSU attack with 11 kills, while senior outside hitter added 10 and
Whitney Maxwell had nine.
The Mustangs return to Lone Star Conference play Thursday night against Texas A&M-Kingsville at D.L. Ligon Coliseum. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
