DENTON, Texas - Midwestern State denied late surges from Arkansas-Monticello Saturday night in the Texas Women's Tournament at Kitty Magee Arena, prevailing 30-22, 30-25, 30-20 to claim a four-game sweep of the tournament.
The Mustangs (11-2), who extended their win streak to nine games, will travel to Dallas Tuesday night to take on Dallas Baptist. The contest is set for 7 p.m.
Junior setter
Allison Schreiber notched 32 assists and 14 digs in the victory for MSU while earning a spot on the all-tournament team for her stellar play during the weekend. Schreiber had a total of 195 assists during the Mustangs four-game stretch.
Jessica Ransom recorded a game-high .500 attacking percentage in the win, while teammate
Shay Velasquez had six service aces and 17 digs. MSU had a total of six team blocks and hit .235 for the game.
The Blossoms were led by Maegan Martin's 34 assists and 16 digs in the loss. MacKenzie Willis contributed 10 digs, while Vikki Crisco and Sara Kindred added seven digs apiece. The loss dropped Arkansas-Monticello to 4-8.
