DENTON, Texas – Midwestern State survived Ouachita Baptist in five games to extend its winning streak to eight matches Saturday afternoon in the Texas Woman's Tournament at Kitty Magee Arena.

Venera Flores-Stafford said. "We have our moments when we are up and down, but we found our intensity and were able to win."
Midwestern, who improved to 10-2, went up two games to one by scores of 30-25, 25-30 and 33-31, but the Tigers fought back for a 30-28 decision in Game 4 before MSU regained control in Game 5, 15-12.
Senior outside hitter
Krissa Johnson paced the Mustangs with a season-high 24 kills while recording a .486 attack percentage.
Two-time Lone Star Conference Setter of the Week
Allison Schreiber continued her stellar play with 66 set assists, while recording eight kills and six digs.
The 66 assists is the fourth-most in school history and fall just shy of Schreiber's career high of 68 set Nov. 1, 2005 against Texas Woman's University.
Sophomore
Alysha Pritt notched her second consecutive double-double with 12 kills and 11 digs while adding four set assists and four blocks.
Senior libero Shay Valesquez paced the MSU defense with 24 digs, while junior middle bocker
Whitney Maxwell had five total blocks.
Ouachita Baptist, which fell to 2-8, was paced by Breanne Garrett's 22 kills, while Brettney Cheatham recorded 61 set assists.
Midwestern State closes out the Texas Woman's Tournament this afternoon at 5 p.m. when they face Arkansas-Monticello.
