Mustangs ace Wayland Baptist, 3-0

WICHITA FALLS, Texas - Midwestern State Alysha Pritt had 12 kills, but also accounted for seven of the Mustangs' 14 aces Tuesday night at MSU dominated Wayland Baptist 3-0 in its 2007 home opener at D.L. Ligon Coliseum.

The Mustangs (6-2) found a weakness in the Wayland Baptist reception game and used a series of jump serves to exploit it.

Pritt led the way way, but six different MSU players recorded aces in the contest as Rachel Gilmore had three and Whitney Maxwell, Allison Schreiber, Shay Velasquez and Sandra Garcia each contributed to the service party.

Wayland Baptist was unable to get its offense untracked as the MSU defense limited it to a .045 attack percentage in a 30-20, 30-23, 30-21 win.

Schreiber, who has claimed the first two Lone Star Conference Setter of the Week, continued her stellar play with 39 set assists, but added 15 digs to lead the MSU defensive effort.

Senior outside hitter Krissa Johnson added 10 kills, while sophomore middle blocker Sesley Graves added eight more in 13 attempts.

Midwestern State will be back in action Thursday night when it plays host to Incarnate Word at 7:30 p.m.
