Kyle Kmiec scored two goals apiece to lead the No. 11 Mustangs to a 4-1 season opening win over St. Mary's Saturday afternoon at St. Mary's Soccer Field.

Doug Elder said. "I'm excited to get the win, but still have to clean up the mistakes we're making, but this is a good way to start."
Kmiec got the Mustangs started by taking a cross from Brown to and scored midst a crowded box to give MSU a 1-0 lead just 7:31 into the contest.
Brown extended the advantage to 2-0 when he picked up a loose ball in the box and beat St. Mary's Brett Collier.
St. Mary's fought back with a tally in the 54th minute from Kris Sumpter to close within 2-1, but the aggressive play of reserve midfielder
Estevao Alexandre and a save on a St. Mary's break away by Mustangs' keeper
Jeremy Turner stemmed the tide.
Brown added his second goal of the match off of a cross by
Efren Castillo to make it 3-1 and Kmiec added his second goal on a long pass from
Brian Martinez for the final score of the game.
The Mustangs (1-0) play host to Colorado State-Pueblo Friday night at 7 p.m., while the Rattlers fell to 0-1.
