WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- The Midwestern State softball team had their ten game winning streak snapped, losing a home doubleheader to Tarleton State University, 7-1 in game one, and then 5-3 in eight innings in game two.
In Game No. 1, MSU (32-13) scored its lone run on a RBI double by
Tara Staten, which scored pinch runner
Anna Smith.
Katie Petersen struck out 11 batters, but did have seven earned runs. Her record falls to 18-9 on the season
In Game No. 2, the Mustangs received good games at the plate from
Kristen Stonecipher, who had an RBI double, and
Cheyanne Paschal, who went 1-3 with an RBI. Pitcher
Ashley Kuchenski allowed four earned runs on eight hits and struck out 5, with her record on the season falling to 14-3.
Midwestern will be in LSC North action on Tuesday, when they play host to tenth ranked Northeastern State (Okla.). The two teams will play a doubleheader, with game one set to start at 2:00 p.m. at the Sunrise Optimist Skip Brown Field.
