CANYON, Texas -- The Midwestern State softball team extended its winning streak to eight games with a doubleheader sweep of West Texas A&M Tuesday at Lady Buff Yard.
MSU (30-11, 11-5) won the first game 11-1, with
Lindsey Voigt picking up her sixth homerun of the season, as she went 1-3 from the plate with three RBI's.
Tara Staten also had a solid day from the plate, going 2-3 from the plate with three RBI's. Pitcher
Katie Petersen had another solid game, striking out nine batters and allowing one earned run to move her record to 17-9.
The Mustangs won the second game as well, 6-1, led by
Kristen Stonecipher, who went 2-4 with a double and two RBI's. Pitcher
Ashley Kuchenski improved her record to 13-2, pitching a complete game and allowing just one earned run and striking out three.
Midwestern will be in action on Wednesday, when they travel to play Oklahoma Panhandle State. The two teams will play a doubleheader, with game one set to start at 2:00 p.m. in Goodwell.
