WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- The Midwestern State softball team won their tenth straight home game and picked up two Lone Star Conference North Division wins as they swept a doubleheader against the East Central (Okla.) Tigers.
MSU (20-8, 4-2) won the first game 6-2, on two two-run home runs in the bottom of the fifth, the first from
Jessica Rodriguez and the second from
Lindsey Voigt. Rodriguez finished the game 2-3 with four runs batted, while Voigt finished 2-4 with 2 RBI's. Pitcher
Katie Petersen had another great game as she struck out 15 batters and improved her record to 10-7.
The Mustangs took the second game 9-1 in six innings.
Kristen Stonecipher went 2-3 from the plate and had four RBI's. Pitcher
Ashley Kuchenski moved her record to 10-1, as she struck out four batters and allowed one earned run. Kuchenski also helped her cause at the plate, as she was 3-3 with a double and one RBI.
Midwestern will be on the road in LSC North play when they travel to ECU on Saturday. The two teams will play a doubleheader with game one set to start at 2:00 p.m. in Ada.
