IRVING, Texas -- Midwestern State softball pitcher
Katie Petersen pitched a complete game one-hitter as the Mustangs won their sixth straight game, this time beating Texas Women's University 1-0 in the team's first game at the Lone Star Conference Crossover Tournament.
Petersen, who moved her record to 16-9, retired 21 of 22 batters and struck out 10. Midwestern's lone run came in the top of the third, when
Maranda Bishop knocked in Tabitha Yanetti. MSU picked up a good game at the plate from
Lauren Craig, who went 2-2.
MSU (28-11) had their second game in the tournament cancelled due to rain in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. The Mustangs will play two games on Saturday, with their first game set to start at 12:00 p.m. against Tarleton State University.
