Mustangs Down Savage Storm

WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- The Midwestern State softball team picked up two more Lone Star Conference North Division wins, as they knocked off Southeastern Oklahoma in a home doubleheader. MSU swept the season series with SOSU for the first time since softball came back to MSU in 2004.

MSU (27-11, 11-5) won the first game 9-3. Kelli Shaw picked up her first homerun of the season, as she went 2-3 from the plate with two RBI's. Pitcher Katie Petersen had a solid game as she was 1-3 from the plate with a double, and struck out four batters, as her record moved to 15-9.

The Mustangs won the second game as well, 5-4. Jessica Rodriguez hit her team best seventh homerun of the season. Pitcher Ashley Kuchenski had a great game, going six strong innings and improving her record to 12-2, while going 1-2 from the plate with an RBI. Katie Petersen picked up her second save of the season, pitching a strong seventh inning.

Midwestern will play in the LSC Crossover tournament at Southwest Park in Irving. The Mustangs will play four total games against LSC South teams, with their first game set to start at 12:00 p.m. against Texas Women's University.
