Wildcats Down Mustangs

ABILENE, Texas -- The Midwestern State women's basketball team dropped their second straight Lone Star Conference South Division game, 73-56, to the Abilene Christian Wildcats.

The Mustangs led by as many as 5 points in the first half, but ACU used a 13-1 run to end the first half and take a 35-27 lead at the break. Then in the second, the Wildcats used a 9-2 run in the first 2 minutes, to build a 15 point lead and never look back.

MSU(9-10, 2-5) was paced on the night by Sonya Calhoun-Courtney, who had 18 points and five rebounds. Stacey Staten added 11 points, while Kaylon Hodge collected six rebounds to go with her eight points.

ACU(13-8, 3-4) was led by Audrey Maxwell, who picked up her seventh double-double of the season, 18 points and 11 rebounds. Alex Guiton added 12 points, while shooting 3-7 from the three point line.

Midwestern will return home on Saturday, when they host Angelo State as part of a Men's Women's doubleheader. The women will tip at 6 p.m., with the man to follow at 8 p.m.
