Mustangs crush Texas-Permian Basin, 98-47

WICHITA FALLS, Texas - Midwestern State probably could have handled Texas-Permian Basin without Tiffany Cook Monday night at D.L. Ligon Coliseum.

But the junior forward's coming out party certainly could have an impact on the remainder of the season as Cook poured in a season-high 28 points and collected 10 rebounds to lead the Mustangs in a 98-47 runaway win.

Midwestern State heads into the Christmas break winning four of its last five and falling in its first three contests of the season to even its season mark at 4-4.

Cook, who transferred from Texas State before suffering a season-ending injury 15 minutes into last season's season opener, broke out for 17 points in the season half as the Mustangs would amass a 51-point margin of victory.

Rosy Ofoegbu also turned in a stellar effort as the junior transfer scored 15 second-half points and rounded out her night with 16 rebounds and seven assists. She also addd four steals and three blocks.

Senior Brittni Morrison also had 15 points and pulled down seven boards, while sophomore Andrea Buben added 14 points, four boards and four assists.

Junior guard Brandy Moore scored 10 of her 12 points in the opening three minutes of the ball game.

The Mustangs will enjoy a two-week break before playing host to St. Edward's on New Year's Eve at D.L. Ligon Coliseum. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m.

Texas-Permian Basin fell to 1-10.
