WICHITA FALLS, Texas – Krissa Johnson and
Alysha Pritt combined for 25 blocks to lead Midwestern State to a 30-23, 30-22, 30-16 win over Eastern New Mexico Saturday afternoon at D.L. Ligon Coliseum.
The Mustangs, who improved to 24-4 on the season and 8-2 in the Lone Star Conference, travel to Incarnate Word on Monday before closing the regular season on the road against Angelo State and Abilene Christian next weekend.
Eastern New Mexico dropped to 4-24 and 0-11.
Johnson paced a stellar day for the four MSU seniors as she hit .321 and added seven digs.
Rachel Gilmore had seven kills, while attacking at a .462 rate. Gilmore also had seven digs, while
Carley Schick had three digs.
The Mustangs rebounded from a subpar hitting night Thursday against West Texas A&M by hitting .262.
Setter
Allison Schreiber directed the attack with 42 assists and added six digs and four kills.
Junior libero
Shay Velasquez paced the Mustangs' defense with 18 digs.
Eastern New Mexico was led by Caitlin Murphy's seven kill, Karen McIntyre's 19 assists and Heidi Geyer's 16 digs.
