No. 8 Mustangs rattle St. Mary’s, 4-0

WICHITA FALLS, Texas – Midwestern State controlled play on both sides of the midline Sunday afternoon as the No. 8 Mustangs came away with a 4-0 result over St. Mary's (Texas) at the MSU Soccer Field.

The Mustangs improved to 13-2 on the season by limiting the Rattlers to a single shot on goal, while putting 12 shots on frame on the other end of the pitch.

Senior forward Daniel Brown netted his team-best 17th goal of the season in the 27th minute off of a nice post-to-post cross from Kyle Kmiec.

It would be the first of three assists on the afternoon for the sophomore from Chapel Hill, Texas, who now has eight helpers this season.

Junior midfielder Rob Humphrey took Brian Martinez long cross into the box from the right wing and worked his way from the left wing for his third goal of the season in the 60th minute.

Kmiec then assisted found Estevao Alexandre cutting into the top of the box with a nice lead pass from just inside the mid-line. Alexandre made one more to put the ball past St. Mary's keeper Jayson Horn to put the Mustangs up 3-0 in the 83rd minute.

Thirty-eight seconds later Scott Magliaro converted a combo from Kmiec and Jeremy Elder for his first goal of the season to give MSU its final margin of victory.

Midwestern State begins the second half of Southwest Soccer Conference play with a pair of matches on the road next weekend as the Mustangs battle Missouri Southern Friday and Northeastern State on Sunday.

St. Mary's fell to 6-9 on the season.
