WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- The Midwestern State University women's basketball team opened the regular season Thursday night with a win over the Cameron University (Okla.) Lady Aggies, 62-48.
Down 22-29, Midwestern used a 17-0 run to start the second half, to pull away from the Aggies. The Mustangs finished the second half scoring 40 points and shooting 54 percent from the field.
Leading the way for the Mustangs were Brittany Burks and Sonya Courtney. Burks scored 14 points and pulled down eight rebounds, and also shot 3-8 from behind the three point line. Courtney led MSU with 11 rebounds, and added nine points.
Cameron's Tiffany Williams led the Lady Aggies in both rebounds, eight, and points, 15.
The Mustangs will be home again Friday, as they take on University of Texas-Permian Basin, with the tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m.
