COMMERCE, Texas – The Midwestern State University Mustangs avenged an earlier loss at home as they took Texas A&M University-Commerce 3-2 in Lone Star Conference North volleyball action.
MSU (13-13, 3-6) beat the Lions 30-27, 16-30, 30-21, 28-30, 15-11 in a match that took two hours at A&M-C Field House.
MSU was paced by the outstanding play of junior
Krissa Johnson of Denver City who recorded a season-high 24 kills to go with a .476 hitting percentage. She also chalked up three aces and two blocks.
Senior
Lacey Lanier of Crandall hit .448 for the game with 14 kills and three blocks, while junior
Rachel Gilmore of Arlington/Lamar added 11 kills. Sophomore
Shay Velasquez of Amarillo/River Road also collected three aces, as sophomore
Allison Schreiber of Windthorst posted 54 assists.
A&M-Commerce (11-16, 4-5) got 30 kills and two blocks from Colleen Favaro, and 18 kills from Wannie Neal.
Midwestern State travels to Southeastern Oklahoma on Saturday for a 2 p.m. LSC North match.
