AUSTIN, Texas – The Midwestern State University Mustangs won their eighth straight win of the season, defeating St. Edward's (Texas) 2-0.
Midwestern (12-2-1) used a dominant defense to shut out the Hilltoppers, lead by goal keeper
Jeremy Turner. Turner (6-1) recorded his fourth straight shut out of the season, saving three of the six shots he faced.
Offensively, the Mustangs received goals from
Scott Magliaro and
Brandon Swartzendruber. Magiaro's goal, his second of the season, came with 27 minutes left in the game on a through ball that he placed in the back corner of the net. Swartzendruber's goal, number 12 of the season, came with three minutes to play.
MSU will travel to San Antonio on Sunday to play a big match against No. 11 Incarnate Word. The match begins at 1 p.m.
