SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The number 19 Midwestern State University men's soccer team picked up its ninth win in a row on Sunday, knocking off number 11 Incarnate Word, 3-1.
Midwestern (13-2-1) dominated the second half, scoring three goals on seven shots.
Daniel Brown led the second half stampede, scoring his third goal of the season, and then later helping
Brent Beavan pick up his first goal of the year.
Tyler Murphy also picked up his third goal of the year on a pass from Beavan.
Incarnate Word (11-2-2) scored their only goal in the first half, 18 minutes in, off the foot of the Miguel Hurtado, his second of the season.
Mustangs goal keeper
Jeremy Turner had another solid performance. He finished the game saving three of the 10 shots he faced, with two of those saves coming in the second half. He improved his record to 7-1 on the season.
The win marks the first time the Mustangs have ever won at UIW in the regular season under Coach
Doug Elder.
MSU will travel to face Missouri Southern on Friday. The match will begin at 7 p.m., in Joplin.
