Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

St. Mary's hands MSU 4-3 loss

SAN ANTONIO – The St. Mary's University got a goal in the 85th minute from Alyssa Valdez to beat Midwestern State University 4-3 in non-conference women's soccer action Friday afternoon in the Alamo City.

The four St. Mary's goals were the most allowed by an MSU women's team since Oct. 19, 2001 when they fell to Central Oklahoma 4-0 in Wichita Falls.

MSU (1-4-1) played from behind most of the game.  St. Mary's (4-2) opened the scoring in the fourth minute on a Kelly Gonzalez goal and added a second in the 14th minute on Valdez first goal of the contest.

MSU scored in the 33rd minute in a scramble in front of the net where Sara Dvorak punched it in.

After allowing a third Lady Rattler goal, MSU got goals from Lauren Sierra in the 60th minute and Michelle Harris in the 75th minute to tie the match.

MSU goal keeper Elli O'Dwyer recorded just two saves while facing 14 shots.  St. Mary's keeper Lily Cano also had two saves while facing eight MSU attempts.

MSU continues its Central Texas road swing on Sunday as the Lady Indians face St. Edward's in a 2 p.m. game.
