Katy Taylor enters her 1st season as the Assistant Coach for Midwestern State University.
Taylor, an Owasso, Oklahoma native joins Head Coach Kae Lani Bryan after seven seasons at Fort Scott Community College. In the 2022-2023 season, Taylor helped lead one of the most successful seasons at FSCC. The Greyhounds finished 30-18 overall with a top-five finish in the conference, as well as a post season berth for the first time in 14 years. The team set numerous records in many individual and team categories: 138 Team stolen bases, 13 game winning streak, National ranking (1st in program history), 30 wins, 2nd highest in program history and most importantly the Greyhounds finished the year with a 3.64 Team GPA tied for 17th in the NJCAA. In the 2023-2024 campaign the Greyhounds finished with a program high 40-18 record, finishing 4th in the KJCCC.
After an undefeated run of 4-0 at the Region 6 tournament, Fort Scott punched their ticket to a first ever trip to the NJCAA Division II World Series in Spartanburg, South Carolina. The 2024 team set numerous records in many categories.
Taylor has coached many Academic All-Americans, All-Conference players and All-Region players, and one NJCAA All-American.
Taylor finished her playing career at Rogers State University in Claremore, Ok. She played one season for the Hillcats, appearing in all 59 games as a middle infielder. In 2018 she helped guide the Hillcats to a Heartland Conference Tournament Championship and a berth to the NCAA Division II National Tournament. Rogers State finished the campaign 39-20.
Prior to Rogers State, Taylor spent two seasons with the University of Iowa in the Big Ten Conference. As a Hawkeye, Taylor appeared in 82 games from 2016-17.
Taylor started her career at Labette Community College in the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference in 2015. As a shortstop, she garnered, KJCCC Freshman of the Year, First Team All-KJCCC, First Team All-Region VI and First Team NJCAA All-American honors in her lone season in Parsons, KS. Taylor also broke the NJCAA single-season record for stolen bases (89). Labette finished the season with a fifth place finish at the NJCAA Division II National Tournament that spring after winning a Region VI title and finishing second in the KJCCC regular season standings.
Taylor earned a Bachelor of Science with an emphasis in Recreation Services and Sport Hospitality Management from Pittsburg State University in 2022. She resides in Wichita Falls, TX.
