Natalie Burton begins her third season at the helm of the Midwestern State volleyball program in 2017.

Guiding another youthful squad in 2016, Burton led the Mustangs to their first postseason appearance since 2013 with a showing in the Lone Star Conference Tournament Quarterfinals while doubling their win total from 2015.

She was named the eighth head coach in program history on March 24, 2015 after serving two years leading the Newman (Kan.) volleyball squad.

Burton compiled a 30-26 record in two seasons at Newman, located in Wichita, Kan., posting a 15-12 mark in 2013 then matching that win total in 2014 while leading the Jets to their first Heartland Conference postseason appearance since 2010 with a 9-7 league mark.

She coached two All-Heartland Conference selections and mentored the league's Freshman of the Year in 2013.

Burton served as a first assistant coach at MSU from 2010-12 under coach Venera Flores-Stafford while helping the team to three Lone Star Conference Postseason Tournament appearances and helping mentor the program's first NCAA Division II All-American in Kiara Jordan (2011), a two-time LSC Libero of the Year.

She also played a key role in the development of local volleyball talent, founding the Zone-In Volleyball Academy (ZIVA).

Prior to arriving at MSU, Burton spent the 2009 season as the top assistant at the University of Louisiana-Monroe, an NCAA Division I program that competes in the Sun Belt Conference. She would serve as the interim head coach of the program after John Schmidt resigned following the season.

The California native spent the previous two years as the assistant coach at Marshalltown (Iowa) Community College where she was instrumental in helping the team to a 54-44 overall record.

Burton mentored two NJCAA All-Americans at Marshalltown as the Tigers soared to a No. 11 national ranking during her two-year stint (2007-08).

Prior to working as an assistant at Marshalltown, she assisted with the Fusion Volleyball program in Valencia, Calif. Her technical expertise helped numerous players sign with Division I programs from across the country.

Burton was a standout volleyball and softball student-athlete at Division I Colgate University from 2001-05 where she earned first-team all-conference recognition and was named Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year in volleyball.

She twice led the league in digs along with earning her way on to the Patriot League Honor Roll on two occasions.
