Rochelle Vasquez enters her second season on the Midwestern State women’s basketball staff as a graduate assistant in 2018-19. In her role, she will assist with recruiting, scouting reports, community service and guard development.
 
“I am extremely excited to start my coaching career here at MSU,” Vasquez said. “I look forward to working with each player individually and sharing my knowledge of the game from my own career and personal experiences. I also look forward to meeting all the fans, boosters and alumni.”
 
A native of McKinney, Texas, Vasquez arrives in Wichita Falls following a four-year playing career, with her final two seasons at NCAA Division I Louisiana Tech.
 
Playing Career
In two seasons with the Lady Techsters, Vasquez started in 53 of 62 contests at guard, averaging 8.5 points and 2.1 rebounds per game as a senior.
 
Vasquez played one season at the NJCAA level for top-ranked Gulf Coast State College in Panama City, Fla., averaging 6.6 points per game for the Commodores after spending one season at Division I Texas State.
 
Vasquez had a standout prep career, earning two varsity letters at McKinney Boyd High School before being homeschooled her final two years and playing for the THESA Riders. In 2013, she was named to the HomeSchool Girls All-American Team while averaging 14 points and four assists per game to lead the squad to state and national titles.
 
Personal
Vasquez earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Louisiana Tech and is currently pursuing a master’s in Business Administration.
